Savannah - 3 Months

Well, I fear I am settling into a "blogging once a month" routine.  It's just life lately and while I hope people are still reading our blog, at this point in my life these posts are more for the sake of being able to look back at memories someday that I would otherwise forget the details of.

So my last post was Savannah's 2 month update and here we are now at her 3 month update.  Why does time have to pass by so fast?

I feel as though I don't have quite as much to write about but here is what she's up to these days...

Weight: just under 14 lbs
Height:  didn't even try - those legs are always kickin!
Moved up to size 3 diapers
Wearing 3-6 month clothing (3 month is too small and most 6 month is still a little big)
Eyes aren't quite as blue but still aren't a defined color yet.

She figured out how to put her hands in her mouth and that is where they are most of the time.  She hasn't figured out sucking her thumb - just likes to gnaw on her fist.

She had her first shots at her 2 month appointment - I just hate that part.  She cried hard, and napped hard but otherwise did really well with them.

We think she may have had a mild form of croup.  She had a super hoarse voice/cry for a few days but never a bad cough with it for which we are thankful.

Speaking of her voice - this sweet girl LOVES to smile, coo, and talk to people/objects.  I don't remember either of my girls doing this (at least not this much.)  I know I am biased but it is just SO cute!  Here is a little sample...

For the most part she is still waking up once each night to eat.  She sleeps from about 6:30pm to anywhere between 2 and 4am before she needs to eat.  Then she goes back to sleep again until 6:30am.  She has slept all the way through the night just once but as far as I can tell it was just a teaser - I am not seeing any sign of her making it permanent quite yet!

And of course, right when I was fairly confident about her sleeping and napping schedule, I went back to work and she started at daycare.  She has been happy while there but hasn't napped very well.  I am REALLY hoping and praying for this to improve soon!

Her two big events of the last month were a visit to DesMoines to meet her Great Grandpa Dick and Great Grandma Jean (and several other family members as well,) and a trip to Minneapolis with Mommy and Grandma Linda to go shopping while we visited my parents in Clear Lake over Thanksgiving!

She is SO easy going and laid back.  She is smiley and happy all day until about 4:30 or 5pm and then is a little fussy until we put her to bed around 6 or 7pm.  She is the kind of baby that could make me want another baby (Olivia was like this too.)  It is quite possible that we are finished with 3 - not quite ready to make this decision yet =).  As much as I hate how quickly the last 3 months have passed, I am just loving this little person she is becoming.

Savannah - 2 Months

I think I am doing good getting the "2 Month" post up before she turns 3 months old...right?  I go back to work a week from today so I am not sure how consistent my posting will be while we get settled into a new/old routine.  Pray for us.

Our baby girl turned 2 months old a couple of weeks ago - so hard to believe.  It is fun getting to know her better but man I hate how fast it goes.  Here is a little about our Savannah at 2 months.

-Weight:  12.67 lbs (80%)
-Height:  22 3/4 in.  (90%)
-Moved up to size 2 diapers (Luvs)
-Tummy Sleeper
-Still gets up once to eat at night (Mommy is trying to be patient as both older sisters were sleeping through the night by this age =).  She'll do a 7 hour stretch and then another 4 to 5 hour stretch so I really don't have anything to complain about.)
-Has established a pretty good "Sleep--Eat--Awake" pattern.
-Napping well.  She'll cry a little when we lay her down but puts herself to sleep pretty well on her own.  Gone are the days of depending on the car seat for a nap though - at least a decent one.  No more toting her around to do all my errands.  We leave the house for about 45 minutes at a time as that is as long as I have after she eats until she needs to nap again.  We do lots of "mini errands."
-Most commented on feature:  Cheeks, dark hair (now that it has grown back), and eyelashes - in that order!  Who could possibly resist these cheeks?

-Smiling, smiling, smiling!!!  This is one thing that makes time passing so fast, bearable.  We just love Savannah's sweet smiles and she passes them out without hesitation.  She even smiles when she hears a familiar voice, even when she can't see the person.  Big sisters and Dad just LOVE it when she smiles at them too.  She's even started to coo/talk/babble when smiling and it seriously makes my heart hurt it makes me so happy.

- Likes bath time - it is usually just easier to bring her in the shower with me.  We have a good system!
- It's a good thing she likes baths/showers because she has been spitting up more and has had her fair share of blown out diapers.  Praise the Lord for the invention of the Clorox bleach pen - it has saved SO many onesies!
-She is still a little wishy-washy on the pacifier.  The whole pacifier thing is new to me as well since both older girls never took one.  Savannah has taken it better than them but isn't totally in love with it either.  I quit trying to give it to her when I put her to sleep.  She would just spit it out and then get mad and I found myself going in several times to pop it back in her mouth.  This way she self soothes without it and without me having to go in.  The only time I have found it helpful is if she wakes up a little too early from a nap, I can pop it in her mouth and she'll go back to sleep until it's time to get up.  I'm not sure how long it will last.  Sometimes she seems to really like it and sometimes she wants nothing to do with it - verdict is still out.
-Getting pretty good head control.  When she is in tummy time she can lift up pretty tall.

-We went to Madison at the beginning of October to visit Peter's brother Ian and his wife Laura - the longest trip we have taken with Savannah.  She was an excellent traveler.  We stopped to feed her once but otherwise she slept almost the whole way.  Abbie was (and still is) a GREAT traveler...Olivia, not so much as a baby but is a lot better now.  So I am really thankful that Savannah is so chill in the car.  She either gets lulled to sleep or is quietly awake, looking and smiling at the animals hanging from her car seat.
-Overall Savannah is a very laid back baby (don't 3rd babies have to be?)  She's a good eater, a good sleeper and has so far been healthy.  If she has a fussy time it is usually in the early evening.  She doesn't always take her last nap of the day because it is so close to bedtime so I have usually just been putting her to bed a little earlier if that happens.

We are SO thankful for this little girl!  What an incredible task God has given us in raising our three girls...some days it is overwhelming...ok, most days.  Oh how I pray that my little girls grow to know Jesus as their Savior, despite my parenting flaws.  I am so thankful for the gift of watching my girls grow up and for being chosen to be their mamma!

And since I can't stop, or even slow down time...on to month 3...
