Kite Festival

This past weekend we traveled to Clear Lake to visit my parents and attend Clear Lake's annual Winter Kite Festival.  We sent Abbie for the weekend last year and she LOVED it and we thought it would be fun for all of us to attend this year and make a whole weekend out of it.  It was a BEAUTIFUL day, however it wasn't quite windy enough to get the REALLY BIG kites up in the air.  It was great to be outside for the morning though and let all the kiddos play in the fresh air (my brother and his family joined us as well.)

My niece, Eliza, all bundled up.

We parked ourselves on a couple of benches and just enjoyed watching and playing.

The girls thought it was really neat that they could walk on the ice.  Olivia was slipping all over the place but didn't care at all.  We even got Grandpa's fish kite up in the air despite the mild wind.  (The girls below with my mom.)

Peter played in the snow with my nephew, Samuel, and made a couple of ice "sculptures."

It was SO nice to be able to let this girl play in some snow...she has felt really deprived since we don't have any.

And when they got tired of the snow, they moved to the sand... (my nephew, Samuel, who is 1 month younger than Olivia.)

Another one of Peter's sculptures that Abbie was helping him with.

My parents packed a picnic and we grilled and ate lunch by the lake.

My dad grilled up some hot dogs and brats - so many people stopped by to ask if he was selling them.  Maybe next year he should =)  We had a really fun morning and then all went home and crashed!

Thanks Mom and Dad for a fun weekend!

Our Most Recent News...

We posted our most recent news on facebook a couple of weeks ago but I got thinking and realized there are a few of you, who read our blog, that aren't on FB and therefore haven't heard...

We're expecting Baby #3!!!!!!

Crazy huh?  Well, not really.  We were praying for the perfect timing for this little one and we are due on August 29th.  I am almost 11 weeks and feeling OK.  I have been less sick this time around (although still a lot of nausea) but WAY more tired...WHOA!  All I can say is praise the Lord for His grace and for giving me an amazing husband who is SO patient with me during this very sleepy, and unproductive 1st trimester.  The girls are super duper excited as well and I am loving the conversations that we are already having about the baby with them.

And to answer a couple of questions that we seem to be getting a lot of...

NO, we will not find out the gender until the baby is born (we didn't with the girls either - I'm pretty sure it isn't even worth my effort to try to convince Peter to find out this time around.)
NO, we don't want a boy MORE than a girl.  We will be happy either way and are just praying for a healthy baby.  (although a certain 5 year old REALLY wants a brother.)

We are very excited and ask that you would be praying with us for a healthy pregnancy, delivery, and baby.

And just for fun, here are the videos that we took when we broke the news to the girls (please ignore my VERY messy house)...
