Father's Day 2012

We celebrated Peter yesterday on Father's Day.  The girls helped me make him breakfast in bed, we headed to church, came home and had Casey's Pizza for lunch, took naps, read, and then I had to go to work but the girls and Peter had a great evening together (which included a little of the NBA finals.)  I am SO thankful for his role as a father in the lives of our girls.  He is just crazy about them and I don't think they could possibly know how much he loves them.  As a mother, I am thankful to be traveling this parenting journey with Peter - I absolutely could not do it without him and this may sound cheesy but he really does complete me in that sense.  I am truly blessed!

I found a few different Father's Day interviews on Pinterest and combined the best questions to make my own for the girls to answer.  I did not help them AT ALL with any of their answers and I am really not sure where they come up with some of their responses.  Some of their answers were SO sweet and some had me almost in tears I was laughing so hard.  Peter REALLY enjoyed these and he got a good laugh as well.

Abbie's interview about her daddy...

My daddy’s name is peter

He is 50 years old

His eyes are Green

My daddy’s hair is brown and it’s like a bears fur

He is taller than her outstretched hand standing on her tip toes tall

He weighs 250 pounds

I have known daddy a long time - for 103 years

Daddy always tells me i love you

My favorite thing about my dad is that he plays the guitar

He is smart because he knows that he loves me

It makes daddy happy when i obey the first time

I really love it when my dad hugs and kisses me

If I could give my daddy anything it would be a cowboy dress-up outfit

What makes my daddy the best is that he knows God

Hot Summer Days

Yesterday we decided to change up our Saturday morning routine a bit.  Instead of going to the library (well, we still dropped off books, but didn't go in) we decided to pack a lunch and put the girls in their suits.  We found a shady place to park the stroller and let the girls (and Peter) play in the fountain since it was such a hot day.  Both were a bit hesitant at first (big surprise) but eventually they enjoyed splashing and running in and out.  I love that this is in the middle of the pedestrian mall down town - so many different people and so much going on.  Thankfully the library is close by - we did use it for potty breaks =).

It took a little help from daddy to get used to the idea.

And a little force as well...  Oh how the above pictures describe my children.  Olivia - hesitant at first but willing with help.  Abbie - hesitant and just not going to do it unless forced.

Daddy cooling off too.

Olivia trying to put her head in too.  See, she eventually gets more brave after a while.

And by the end (better late than never) this one was testing the waters...ha ha, get it?

Blurry, but I love the expression on her face!

We dried off, ate our packed lunch, and then headed to Yotopia for some cold frozen yogurt...YUM!  We are just LOVING these summer days...however hot the might get =).

Pre-School Graduation

Abbie had her pre-school graduation last Thursday evening.  It was just a short little ceremony but it was the very first one the daycare has put on.  The woman who started the daycare (her name is also Amanda), first started it up when Abbie was just 9 months old and she only had a few kids she took care of in her home.  Since then, they have built a wonderful child care center and now it is booming with kiddos.  The ceremony was very nice and Abbie did a great job walking down to get her "diploma."

All of these pictures were taken after the ceremony - my parents came with Peter but they didn't quite make it in time and they also were the ones bringing my camera - oops.  Oh well, Abbie was so excited to have us all there at the end and she really didn't even notice that it was just Olivia and I at the ceremony.  She will continue on with her normal schedule of daycare/pre-school (3 days a week) until Kindergarten starts in August.
Abbie with her teacher, Miss Emily.
With a couple of her friends, Ben and Kendra.  Kendra is one of the kids who has also been at the daycare with Abbie since they were babies.
 Olivia found her own entertainment.
This is the little boy that Abbie has told me for the past two years that she is going to marry someday.  His name is Maddox - isn't he cute in his little suit?  Just gonna guess that they probably won't get married but his mom and I have had some good laughs listening to these two talk about it and comparing stories that they bring home to us =).
Mmmm, mints.  There was a nice little reception with cake and punch at the end.  It was fun to celebrate with so many faces that we have been seeing over the years.  It is a little bittersweet too as Abbie will be at a different elementary school than most of the kids in her class.  Clear Creek Amana has two elementary schools - one in Oxford and one here in North Liberty.  Most of the kids live in Tiffin which means they will go to Oxford but we have learned of three others that will be going to Abbie's school as well.

A big thanks to all the Little Clippers Staff who take care of our girls when we are at work and to all of the teachers Abbie has had over the past 4.5 years.  We are thankful for her time here but we are excited for what the next year will bring at North Bend Elementary!
